Description
Paul Sills is an international arbitrator, mediator and adjudicator based in London, with more than 30 years’ experience resolving complex commercial disputes across multiple jurisdictions. He is appointed in both institutional and ad hoc matters and has particular experience in construction and infrastructure, energy, marine and shipping, aviation, finance, and digital asset disputes.
Before practising full-time as a neutral, Paul worked as a civil and commercial barrister and held senior executive roles as CEO, director and company receiver. That combination gives him unusual insight into the legal, commercial, governance and restructuring pressures that sit behind many business disputes. He is known for combining rigorous legal analysis with practical commercial judgment.
Paul has more than 70 appointments as sole arbitrator and tribunal member and serves on the panels of LCIA, SIAC, HKIAC, DIAC, arbitrateAD, ADGM and other institutions. He is also Chairperson of a European Commission arbitration panel for trade disputes.
Alongside his neutral practice, Paul is an internationally recognised educator and writer on arbitration, mediation, fintech, climate change and complex project disputes. He has taught international commercial arbitration at Westminster University Law School and leads fellowship training in mediation, adjudication and arbitration for AMINZ. He is ranked by Who’s Who Legal / Lexology as a Global Leader in Mediation.
